Think it's done!

Well.. Haven't updated for a while, as i've been busy getting it finished for the deadline.  My test is booked in for Friday morning (10th June).

Got that last of the snagging jobs completed today, so hopefully is about done.  Taking it up to Saturn Sports Cars on thursday to give it the once over, then we're heading down to Beverley IVA testing station in the early hours of Friday morning.

Not looking forward to the test, but can't wait to get it on the road. :D

Almost done!

The new exhaust arrived today, as did the chassis number from the DVLA. All that needs doing now is to map the engine, repair the rear wheel arch, stick a few nut covers etc on then give it a good clean.

IVA form will soon be filled in and in the post!

Getting closer

Haven't updated for a while - been busy. 

My guages finally arrived today, so got them fitted this afternoon. The transmition tunnel is finished and the tub lid.

The front wheel arches are painted and on, and I've got the brakes working.  Unfourtunatley the silencer i had, which was a second hand bargin off ebay got a hole in. So i'm currently after a stainless silencer.

Once i get the exhaust sorted and engine mapped, there's just a few finishing off bits left for the IVA.

Success at last

Recieved the ecu back last week, and although the spark was fixed, it wouldn't rev past 2000rpm. After a few days of trying things and researching, turns out the wires were crossed for the crank sensor.  Swapped them round today and finally got it running enough to start tuning it.   Also drove it for the first time, which was exciting!

Next up, getting the brakes to work properly.

A few hickups

Been having a few problems recently, but luckily they all now seem to be sorted.  First of all was the Megasquirt - I started tuning it (or trying). It started misfiring badly, then eventually stopped sparking. I tried changing the coil, plugs and leads, but no good.  After trying all sorts, it turns out there was a bit missing out the ecu itself, so it was burning out the coil driver.  :(

It went back to get the new chip installed and whatever it was thats missing, so should be in the post back as I type.

Next up a big blister and a few smaller ones appeared in the bonnet, which was a bit of a pain as i'd already trimmed it and put the stripes etc on. On the positive side Andy at Saturn sorted me out with a nice new one in the new shape! :)

Looks much nicer, and i've ordered some new stripes which are slightly wider than the originals, so should look ace.

Finally I've finished welding and painting the roll bar, so that's back on now too.

Another milestone in the build.


Another milestone in the build. Finnally wheeled it out the container.  I've been trying to get it running right with the megasquirt, but been having lots of problems with misfires and rich running.

The roll bar is about finished now, just needs painting to look nice and shiney, the prop shaft is here and fitted, the rear bodywork can be fixed on properly once the roll bar is painted, then the dash wiring needs completing.  Brakes aren't working properly yet either. The list goes on...

It'll be finished one day. hahaha.

Another small update..

I've now made a start on the roll bar, needs the rear stays cutting to size and welding up and the harness mounts welding in.  Also, picked up my bonnet from Andy at Saturn, and carbon wrapped the dash.  1 step closer to IVA!
